Short history:
This all-wooden, mid-wing, cantilever, single-seat, high performance glider was a special version of the R-22S Június-18. It was called as "lamináris" R-22S (R-22S with laminar wing). Only one example had been built in 1952 and it was modified in 1954 and in 1960. It was certified for cloud flying.
The most memorable flight flown with R-22S "lamináris" Június 18 was a 400.4 km goal distance flight by Tibor Bogdándi in 1961, which was a new Hungarian record.


Structure:  All wooden
   Wing:
The whole surface of the single spar wing was covered with plywood. The NACA 63(2)-615 airfoils were used. Torsion loads were passed to the fuselage instead of secondary spars by trihedral steel-tube structures fastened to the rear surface of the main spar at wing roots. The plain type ailerons were fabric covered. The leading edge of the wing was straight unlike to R-22S, and the span as well as the area of the ailerons were smaller that of the original R-22S. No flaps were fitted. The Göppingen type airbrakes worked on both surfaces of the wing. The 1952 year version had rounded wingtips, however the 1954 year version got "almond" wingtip fairings. In 1960 the span was reduced to meet the Standard Class requirements and the wingtip fairings were abandoned.
   Fuselage:
The 1952 and 1954 versions had the same fuselage than that of the original R-22S. However in 1960 the fuselage of the R-22SV C-Futár was adopted.
   Tail unit:
The 1952 and 1954 versions had the same tail unit than that of the original R-22S. However in 1960 the tail unit of the R-22SV C-Futár was adopted.
