HUNGARIAN GLIDERS
1933-2000

Type designation: Vándor
Name: Vándor
Designer: Zoltán JANKA - Lajos ROTTER
Class: Training
General arrangement: 'V' strutted high wing, open cockpit fuselage, traditional tail unit with strut braced horizontal stabilizer
Crew: 1
First flight: Spring, 1934
Manufacturer: MOVERO workshop, Gyöngyös
Number of built: 1

Short history:
This glider was designed to fill the gap between the era's widely used primary gliders (Zögling) or trainers (Hol's der Teufel or Hangwind) and high performance types capable of cross-country and cloud flights as well as aerobatics. The designers' aim was to create a middle performance glider with sufficiently strong structure to use it for slope and thermal training flights as well as for basic aerobatic training.
It was constructed at MOVERO's (Aviation Section of Hungarian Defense Association) workshop at Gyöngyös. The estimated date of the glider first flight is the Spring of 1934. The glider was a bit heavy and was not the pilots' favorite and it was not suitable for thermal flights. It was used at different gliding schools and training camps up to 1939. Its later fate is unknown.

Structure:  All wooden
   Wing:
The double main spar wing in front of the fore spar was covered by plywood. The other parts of the wing as well as the quite large ailerons was fabric covered. The wing was braced by wooden streamlined 'V' struts.
   Fuselage:
It was a plywood covered frame structure with an open cockpit. The landing gear was a rubber-ring dumped skid under the fore part of the fuselage.
   Tail unit:
The horizontal stabilizer was strut braced. The stabilizers were plywood, the elevator and rudder were fabric covered.
